Larry Page, one of the two founders of Google, has in his sights the future means of transport. For him, in a few years we should have flying cars, and so he has invested millions of dollars in creating his own. This is the first in-flight demonstration of Page’s new Flying Car.
The Kitty Hawk Flyer is described as an “ultralight ship” and as per details. It is actually a kind of drone large enough to support the weight of a person. According to the official site, the device can only fly on water and nothing else; nor the handling on land or in congested areas of a city is allowed, besides that, a special license is not required to handle it.
The device will go on sale this year, although the final price will be shown just before its launch. Of course, members of the Kitty Hawk special program will get a discount of USD $ 2,000 at the time of purchase.
In fact, more than an electric flying car looks like a cross between a jet ski and a giant drone capable of transporting an adult. Anyway, Cimeron Morrissey, one of the testers of this version, said that the one put up for sale will be much more practical than this prototype.
According to the New York Times, the flying car weighs about 100 kilograms and can fly at speeds up to 40 kilometers per hour.
At Kitty Hawk’s site, it ensures that the device is “safe, tested and legal to be handled in the United States,” as long as it is used in “non-congested areas.” Apparently, you do not need a special license to fly it, and “you can learn to handle it in a few hours.”
