How To Delete Yourself From the Internet?

If you are reading this article, it means that your personal information is possibly available to “public.” “Public” means everywhere and everyone. As we all know that we cannot completely remove ourselves from Internet, but there several ways to minimize the online footprint. These ways are:

  1. Deactivate Or Delete Your Shopping, Web Service, And Social Network Accounts

First, think about the social networks on which you have made your profiles. Apart from the top-rated ones such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, do you have accounts on sites like Google+, Tumblr, or MySpace still? What about the account on Reddit? On which shopping websites, you have made your account? The common shopping websites are Gap.com, Amazon, Macys.com and many others.

You just need to go the account setting and look for the options to remove or deactivate the account. This setting might come under Privacy or Security in order to get rid of such accounts.

  1. Remove Your Information From The Websites

Check the memory of the phone or the provider of the phone to assure that you are not listed online and remove the name or information if given. If you want to remove any post or the blog which you wrote earlier, you will need to contact the webmaster of the sites for which you wrote or posted. You can also check “Contact Us” or “About” options to find the required person or just go to www.whois.com to find the domain name.

Private Websites operate under no responsibility to remove the posts. So, while contacting them, you need to be polite and state your concern. Hopefully, they will remove them. If they do not remove your posts, the next tip would be more viable.

  1. Remove Your Personal Information From Websites

If the webmaster is not removing your post and uses your information, you can simply send a legal request to Google for removing it.

You have to be patient during this procedure, and do not think to complete it in within a day. You might have to believe that there are many things which cannot be completely deleted from the Internet.
