Google has just unleashed an astounding five products today, and I have invested a lot of energy trying them. The first and the most significant release is the Google’s smartphones, the new flagship of Google.
Google has taken all the credit for the design of Pixel and Pixel XL. Both the smartphones are powered by Snapdragon 821 processor. These smartphones run on Google’s Android software, and it includes the support for Daydream virtual reality platform which was announced earlier this summer.
Pixel and iPhone have same bezel sizes, but iPhone has a justification of having the home button. The only difference in the design is glass window on the rear, which both the models allow RF signal to escape and serve as the camera lens. The rear camera of Pixel and Pixel XL scores 89 in DxOMark. It has the highest rating till now. Though it is not the benchmark to measure the performance, but it is the indicator of the potential of the sensor in the Pixel and Pixel XL. It has 12.3 MP with large 1.55-micron pixels and the f/2.0 aperture.
Pixel and Pixel XL have built-in Google Assistant, which helps you when you touch and hold the home button. In the event demo of Google, this assistant brings your photos from a specific place or time, and also plays the music of your choice by selecting the music app by default. It also incorporates the Google Now on Tap functionality while allowing its users to swipe up on the screen with the information like the name of the restaurant, its address, and the reviews. Google Assistant would also reserve your bookings for that restaurant by using the voice prompt.
The most exciting thing about Google’s iPhone is its free unlimited storage for videos and the full-resolution images shot with Pixel. It is just like the Google Photos backup ability, but it does not confine to size and the compression, even on the video shot of 4K with Pixel.
Google promises that Pixel and Pixel XL would have the best cameras. The app starts up very fast, though, but we need to wait to see its consistency after more usage.
The hardware seems quite fine after the first blush. It looks much alike iPhone. Its software is also interesting and tried to present the full review. The update speed of Google is making these phones the best Android phone currently available.
