‘Google For Work’ Is Now G Suite

Google, the multinational technology giant has been known to provide multiple business enterprise solutions for quite long. The ‘Google Cloud’ is one of the biggest and the most advanced cloud platform ever built. It is capable of providing quick analytics solutions and powerful data. The automated real-time insights helps the businesses and researchers in making much more effective decisions.

‘Google for Work’ or ‘Apps for Work’ is a group of intelligent productivity apps which come under the Google Cloud umbrella. On September 29th, 2016, Google announced that it’ll be re-branding the ‘Apps for Work’ as “G Suite”. Furthermore, many of Google’s products are now made much more effective by infusing them with the advanced “machine intelligence”. These products include the Google Calendar, Sheets spreadsheet program and the Docs word processor. Ever since Google came under the parent company Alphabet Inc., we can see that the word “Google” is being removed from different products slowly. Previously, the names of Google Ideas, Google Ventures, Google Life Sciences and Google X were changed. All of them had the word “Google” removed from them.

As per Google, the new name reflects its mission to “help people everywhere work and innovate together, so businesses can move faster and go bigger.”

G Suite lets you access your work seamlessly from any smart device and let you perform effectively through its apps. Following are the apps which come under the G Suite:

  • Gmail
  • Hangouts
  • Calendar
  • Google+
  • Drive
  • Docs
  • Sheets
  • Forms
  • Slides
  • Sites
  • Admin
  • Vault

While most of these services are free, you can always get the enterprise versions of these apps by paying very nominal amounts starting from $5/user/month. Gmail enterprise version lets you send professional emails through your business web address. It also lets you create mailing lists for better communication. Storage can be extended to ‘unlimited’ in the upgraded version.

The management apps lets you secure your personal data and helps you in locating the devices. It is protected by strong passwords and is capable of deleting the sensitive data remotely if needed.

The G Suite is used by millions of organizations worldwide ranging from small companies to the multinationals listed in the Fortune 500.
