With the opening of the doors of the Shanghai Motor Show, we have been able to discover a few important new developments locally and internationally. One of them is the Audi e-tron Sportback Concept, a new prototype of the signature of the four rings that will serve as an advance to a production model. This is an SUV coupe that features an electric mechanic like the Audi e-tron Quattro Concept that was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015.
Although it is called Sportback, this does not mean that it is a five-door as it happens in the A3 and A5 Sportback. In this case, it is an SUV coupé of four doors with measures of 4.90 meters long, 1.98 meters wide and 1.53 meters high; Close to the Audi A7. It has a fairly low and sporty line, in line with the latest prototypes of the brand. It also comes with interesting news.
One of the hallmarks of the Audi e-tron Spaceback Concept at the aesthetic level is the large dark-grained Singleframe, flanked by two latest generation Matrix LED headlights. It will not be the only element of illumination since in the prototype they have 250 more diodes in the front that are in charge to give light to the logo. The rear lights are also LED, having a 3D effect and are united in the center of the rear.
The dynamic character of Audi e-tron Sportback Concept is highlighted by a very aerodynamic and sporty body. Its prototype condition is evident due to the use of cameras instead of mirrors or the huge 23-inch wheels. At the rear there is a spoiler with a striking shape that starts from the roof and gives rise to a very slanted rear window, which helps to create the silhouette coupe of this prototype.
Interior of Audi e-tron Sportback Concept is very futuristic. There are no physical buttons, but large touch screens that serve to modify any parameter. There is one behind the steering wheel for the instrumentation, another for the infotainment on the top of the center console and another just below for the air conditioning controls. Even the steering wheel uses tactile buttons and the dashboard gives information to the passenger.
The propulsion system used combines three electric motors, one on the front axle and the other two on the rear. This gives a power of 435 hp (320 kW) and sometimes increases to 503 hp (370 kW) in accelerations. This way you can go from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds. But the most important thing is its lithium-ion batteries of 95 kWh which have an electric range of 499 kilometers (310 miles), at the level of rivals like the Tesla.
The Audi e-tron Spaceback Concept will serve as an advance to an electric production SUV, which could be the next Audi Q6 e-tron and will arrive in 2019. Audi’s bet is electric and has already confirmed that its first model will be ready for next 2018.
