The sale of tablet sale in the 4th quarter fell almost twenty percent from the earlier year to the 52.9 million units as per the research of IDC. According to another survey which was conducted by Strategy Analytics, the sale of tablet tumbled 9% to almost 63.5 million.
The analysts of IDC said that the sale fell 15.6 % to 178.4 million units during 2016, in the 2nd annual decay following the period of the sizzling growth. The analysts are of the view that most of the customer are now moving to versatile tablets with detachable keypads that might be considered as either PCs. or tablets.
Ryan Reith of IDC stated, “The sentiment around the tablet market continues to grow stale despite a lot of talk about vendors pivoting their product portfolios toward the detachable segment. Typical tablets without a dedicated keyboard, which IDC refers to as slate tablets, are continuing to lose relevancy across all regions and, as a result, we see the decline happening globally.”
Apple reported that it sold almost 13.1 million iPads in the 4th quarter, which is a drop of approximately 19% from previous year, but they hopeful to lead this category. As per IDC, the Apple’s iPads held the 24.7% of the tablet market, while according to the estimation of Strategy Analysts, it has almost 20.6% share in the market.
Samsung is the 2nd number with the sale of about eight million tablets.
According to the IDC’s estimate, 5.2 Fire tablets were sold by Amazon in order to lift their market share to almost 10%. Strategy Analytics said that Amazon sold nearly 4.2 million tablets for the share of 6.7%.
Lenovo and Huawei are the top five manufacturers as per the surveys.
Eric Smith, an analyst at Strategy Analytics said Microsoft is considered as the largest vendor in the segment of Windows with its family of devices.
